Deadstock, Upcycling & Sustainability

Handicrafts are trendy again. Especially among people who want to live more sustainably. Upcycling and the use of deadstock materials will therefore continue to accompany us in 2023. Upcycling means creating something new from something old. Often, old shirts, T-shirts, jeans or even dresses are puzzled together and a new, sustainable piece of clothing is created. Deadstock, on the other hand, is the modern term for slow-moving items that are saved from being scrapped by consumers/brands.

Upgrade clothes with embroidery

Many beginners nowadays turn to embroidery and embellish their clothes with small embroideries or large-scale patterns. Even worn areas are enhanced with the help of small embroideries or iron-on appliqués and the life cycle of the garments is thus extended.

Fitting second-hand clothes to your own body

Fast fashion is no longer an option for many and they decide to buy second-hand. Afterwards, however, the bargains must often be adjusted or repaired to fit one's own body shape. Jeans that are too big are unravelled and sewn back together, blouses with darts are turned into eye-catchers and trousers are made into skirts.

Thrift-Flips - Make new from old

Thrift flips often consist of old second-hand items that have been sewn together again. Patchwork Thrift Flips are particularly popular. These consist of different pieces of fabric that have been creatively sewn together to create a new fabric. In addition to patchwork, dyeing is also in vogue, especially the batik style, but the watercolour look also gives old things a fresh twist.
